The unseasonal rains continued to batter the twin cities for the third day in a row recording a rainfall of 24.5 mm in the last 36 hours. Heavy rains amidst lightning and gusty winds were experienced in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The citizens also had to bear with the sudden chill in the air towards evening as the temperatures fell by 5 C in the last couple of days.

Various parts of the city, including Bowenpally, Begumpet, Sainikpuri, Tank Bund witnessed hailstorm on Monday evening.

Woes multiply

Residents woes multiplied due to water logging, ravaged roads, power outages and tree falls due to the rains.

In old city, there was blackout in the areas of Karwan, Puranapul, Talabkatta and Hussainialam whenever it rained.

One of the low-lying localities, Nadeem Colony in Toli Chowki got inundated.

Traffic was disrupted on the major stretches where Hyderabad Metro Rail is in progress. At many places, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) had to carry out emergency works like removal of felled trees and fixing drains for smooth flow of traffic.

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) received 500 calls in the last 48 hours related to water logging and overflow of sewage water.

The Met department officials gave an alert of isolated hailstorm and heavy rains for the next 24 hours over Telangana.

The Max temperature is expected to be around 32 C on Wednesday.

The weathermen have predicted that from Thursday onwards the temperatures will start rising.
