RAJKOT: A petty tiff between two individuals snowballed into a communal clash in Sihor town of Bhavnagar district on Tuesday. A scuffle over parking a vehicle led to members of two communities pelting stones at each other and damaging vehicles on the main road in the town. Three persons sustained injuries in the clash and were hospitalized in Bhavnagar.
Sources said the mobs also pelted stones on police vehicles. Tension gripped the entire town within minutes of the clash. Soon after the incident senior police officials including the superintendent of police (Bhavnagar) Dipanker Trivedi rushed to Sihor town located 26km from Bhavnagar.
"The situation is totally under control and police personnel have been deployed to avert any untoward incident. The group clash took place following a ruckus over parking a vehicle outside a shop in the town," Trivedi told TOI.
"We have launched a probe in this case and complaints will be lodged against the accused. As of now, there is nothing to worry," he added.
