Mumbai: Director of Markazul Ma’arif Education and Research Centre Maulana Mohammad Burhanuddin Qasmi through a press release has announced the dates of the entrance exam for those seeking admission to the Diploma in English Language and Literature (DELL) Course for the batch 2015-17. Written and spoken test is scheduled for May 7, 8, 2015 corresponding to 17, 18 Rajab, 1436 AH on Thursday and Friday. The exams will be held at Jamiatu As-Shaikh Hussain Ahmad Madni, Deoband, (UP). The written exam will be held on Thursday and only those passing the written exam will be allowed to appear for the spoken exam on Friday and out of these only those candidates will be selected that have passed both the written and spoken exams.

The entrance exam will be for eight institutions having 177 seats; out of these 30 for MMERC, Mumbai, 12 for Markaz Islami Education and Research Centre, Ankleshwar, Gujarat, 15 for Jamia Islamia Jalalia, Hojai, Assam, 20 for Institute For Higher Studies, Okhla, New Delhi, 25 for Al-Mahad Al-Ali Al-Islami, Hyderabad, 25 for Islamic Study Centre, Ibrahim Bawany IIT, Vadodra, Gujarat, 25 for Fazlani Centre for English Language and Literature, Lunavla, Pune and 25 seats for Islamic Study and Research Centre, Madrasa Islamia Betiya, West Champaran, Bihar.

Markazul Ma’arif Education and Research Centre (MMERC) is a unique institution in the world, established by Maulana Badruddin Ajmal Al-Qasmi in 1994, where a two-year DELL course was started especially to give quality English language coaching to madrasa graduates. Seeing the success of the DELL course other institutions have also started the same in their environs, eight among them are affiliated to MMERC, Mumbai. These institutions have the same curriculum as that of DELL in MMERC which covers a raft of subjects such as English language and literature, computer and internet, history, geography, journalism, mathematics, general knowledge etc and comparative studies of religions.

In all of these centres of learning including MMERC and its eight affiliated institutions in India teaching as well as lodging and food are free for the selected students. The students are also exposed to talks by experts on various modern topics such as science, geography, journalism, economics, politics and other branches of learning and humanities so that these ulama are fully prepared to face present challenges and also serve the needs of the country and community by guiding them properly.

Maulana Burhanuddin Qasmi also went on to explain that MMERCE hold a competitive exam for madrasa graduates every year where students are tested in various fields of Islamic knowledge such as Qur’an, its exegesis, hadith, fiqh, Arabic language and literature, as also their proficiency in writing in Arabic and Urdu and awareness of general knowledge. Only their abilities and real merit is the criterion for getting selecting in their chosen institutions. Only those who have passed graduation from any madrasa in India can apply to sit for this exam.

Application forms with prospectus will be available at all Centres and these can be downloaded freely from www.deoband.net from 20 April, 2015 onwards. The last date for application submission at Deoband is 5th May, 2015.
