A good song has no shelf life. That’s the reason many of our songs become classics and we don’t take it lightly when anyone messes with these songs. Several films have tried to rehash our classic tunes and while few have succeeded, others fall flat on the ground.  We're sure the latest version of Dholi Taaro from Ek Paheli Leela will get your blood boiling as they have thoroughly gone wrong with the song. We list down instances where filmmakers have ruined classic tracks.

Dholi Taaro
Original: Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam
Rehashed for: Ek Paheli Leela

This classic song from SLB’s film is still famous and creates a frenzy on the dance floor even today. The original is sung by Kavita Krishnamurthy, Vinod Rathod and Karsan Sagathia. However, the song was used again in the recently released Ek Paheli Leela. The song is composed by Meet Brothers and Anjjan and sung by Monali Thakur. The video stars a skimpily clad Sunny Leone as a village belle, dancing to the remade tune. According to sources, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is not happy with the remix and preferred if the song remained untouched. We couldn’t agree more.

Dum Maaro Dum
Original:  Hare Krishna Hare Ram (1971)
Rehashed for: Dum Maaro Dum (2011)

When we heard that Rohan Sippy bought the rights to the iconic song, Dum Maaro Dum sung by Asha Bhosle, we were super excited for the new version. Rohan Sippy got Deepika Padukone on board to gyrate for this item number. But the song got negative feedback from all music lovers. RD Burman’s classic song was destroyed by disastrous lyrics such as ‘Aaj mere liye chair kheech raha hai, Kal meri skirt kheenchega’ and ‘Unche se uncha banda, potty pe baithe nanga’. Enough said!

Pyaar Do, Pyaar Lo
Original: Janbaaz (1986)
Rehashed for: Thank you (2011)

Feroz Khan’s films were not only blockbusters, but their songs were chartbusters too. Pyaar Do, Pyaar Lo from Janbaaz was picturised on Rekha and was picked up by Anees Bazmee for his film, Thank You. This time, the song featured Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol and Irrfan Khan dancing with seductively dressed women in a club. The remix version is no match for the original. Sapna Mukherjee’s voice is replaced by Mika Singh to make it a party number, but it fails miserably.

Laila Main Laila
Original: Qurbani (1980)
Rehashed for: Chalo Dilli (2011)

We still lust over Zeenat Aman’s Laila act from Qurbani and we’re sure no one else can be as sexy as her. In 2011, Lara Dutta bought the song's rights for her venture, Chalo Dilli. The sizzling Yana Gupta danced on screen to the rehashed version by Gourov Dasgupta. Though Yana does a decent job, a classic song has been wasted.

Mehbooba
Original: Sholay (1975)
Rehashed: RGV Ki Aag and Aap Ka Suroor (2007)

Anything related to Sholay should remain untouched. Even their character names are iconic and irreplaceable. However, in 2007, two films decided to rehash the Mehbooba song.

Himesh Reshammiya who forayed into acting, added his nasal touch to the song for his first film. While Asha Bhosle sang, Mallika Sherawat was seen dancing to the tunes. The song didn’t get any positive responses.

Ram Gopal Varma’s version of the song was as bad as his remake of the iconic film. While we love Urmila Matondkar, she was nowhere close to the siren, Helen.
