THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Throwing open new commuting options for the regional passengers, a new airline service, Air Pegasus, began its operations in Thiruvananthapuram-Bengaluru sector on Monday. The first flight in the route left Bengaluru at 6.40pm and touched down at the Thiruvananthapuram airport at 8.10pm. The return flight took off at 8.40pm and reached Bengaluru at 10.10pm.
Air Pegasus would soon be expanding their operations to small city airports such as Belgavi, Rajahmundry, Puducherry and Madurai besides metros like Chennai and Kochi.

Air Pegasus MD Shyson Thomas told a news conference on Monday that offering more travel options would boost the economic development of the state. Thiruvananthapuram is Kerala's IT hub that contributes 80% of state's software export. Connecting the city to the country's IT capital Bengaluru would boost the economy of Thiruvananthapuram by simplifying the travel options for both in-bound and out-bound passengers.
The airline has now two 66 seater ATR 72500 aircraft. Soon the fleet strength will be increased to three. The airline also has a crew consisting of 18 pilots and cabin service staff.
Air Pegasus is operating in the Bengaluru-Hubballi sector also.
Currently, the budget airline offers a fare charge of Rs 1,234. It would be hiked according to seasonal variations with the maximum ticket price that can be reached being Rs 3,500.
The airline service is being supported by Décor Aviation, which has been into ground handling business for about 15 years.
