Trial against MCD engineer dropped

April 14, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:34 am IST - New Delhi:

A Delhi court has dropped trial proceedings against an executive engineer of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) in a corruption case for want of sanction for his prosecution by the competent authority.

However, the court granted liberty to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to obtain a fresh sanction for his prosecution and proceed further. Additional Sessions Judge Talwant Singh dropped the proceedings against Ajay Kumar Dixit seeking release.

He argued that that the sanction for his prosecution had not been granted by the competent authority.

The MCD Commissioner had given the sanction to prosecute Mr. Dixit.
