Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) has clarified that the Shanmugasundari, who has been arrested in Chennai for her alleged involvement in fake certificate case, is not a member of the party.

In a release, the party’s State vice president C. Vadivel Gounder has said that the party removed her in 2012 after it found her acting against its interest.

The party also removed her husband G.S. Kumar from the Vanniyar Sangam in the same year.

The two had also submitted in writing to the Saravanampatty Police that they were not longer members of the party when police across the State arrested its members following the arrest of its leader S. Ramadoss.

It was with the purpose of duping the public that the duo claimed that they had association with the PMK, he added.
