The need for an overhaul of the education system now in place in the country was stressed by the Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, B.K. Krishnaraj Vanavarayar at Kotagiri on Sunday. Participating as the chief guest at a function organised to mark the re-opening of the International Community School, he said that it was necessary to have a re-look at the way education was being imparted.
Averring, “character building must be the primary aim of school education,” he exhorted the youth to learn from the teachings of great personalities of the past like the Mahatma Gandhi, Swami Vivekananda and Mahakavi Bharathi. School Correspondent Senthil Rangaraj said that the school, which had come into being in 1974 had remained closed for the past few years. The new management will strive to live up to the track record of the institution in imparting quality education.
Academic Director Pamela Clarke welcomed the gathering. Among those present were B.
