Two people are scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Framingham District Court after police found them running a methamphetamine lab in the woods off Meadow Street, our news partners at MetroWest Daily News reported Monday.Watch the reportFramingham Police arrested Tara Sandler, 31, of Hudson, and Kevin Sullivan, 28, of Natick, and charged them after officers discovered them in a town-owned wooded area near the Danforth Landing development at the former New England Sand & Gravel, police spokesman Lt. Stephen Cronin said."It was an investigation by detectives based on information they received from an anonymous source," Cronin said.Officers discovered the tent around 11:15 a.m.Monday in the woods. Trash was strewn about and the chemical smell was strong, the lieutenant said."There was a lot of debris around the area, and I could smell ammonia from 10 feet away," Cronin said.Cronin said the manufacturing of methamphetamines is "extremely dangerous," because the chemicals used are "highly toxic and highly volatile."According to a federal drug information website, chemicals, such as ammonia, acetone, battery acid and antifreeze, are often used to help make the drug.Because of the volatility of methamphetamines, the Framingham Fire Department, a state hazardous materials team and a Massachusetts State Police bomb squad were called to the site to help assist. The cleanup lasted for several hours Monday afternoon."It requires very delicate hands to handle it (methamphetamines)," Cronin said.The hazardous materials team also set up a tent where Sandler and Sullivan were stripped of their contaminated clothing and decontaminated before being given Tyvek suits to wear.They were both taken to the Framingham police station for booking.Cronin said it is unclear how long the pair were making the drugs in the woods, and said detectives were still questioning them late in the day Monday.Police charged Sandler, of 100 Tower St., and Sullivan, of 29 Felch Road, with manufacturing of methamphetamines, trespassing and littering.Both were being held overnight at the Framingham police station.
