A doctor’s wife was shot at during a robbery at their Raj Nagar residence in Ghaziabad. Police said the incident occurred around 3.30 am on Monday.
According to police, three robbers broke open a window with an iron rod and entered the bedroom where the doctor’s wife, Anita Singh, was sleeping. “Three persons entered the house. One broke into the bedroom while two others were in the living room.”
Police said one of the robbers shot at Anita when she woke up. The bullet hit her right hand, but she fought back. The robbers fled, police said.
“We will get hold of the robbers soon. An FIR has been registered under sections 393 and 452 of the IPC. Six persons have been interrogated in the matter. We have also recovered the iron rods used by the thieves to break into the house,” SHO Kavi Nagar police station, Avneesh Gautam, said.
Police said the doctor, D P Singh, was in the house when the incident took place. Their son Shekhar was sleeping in another room. Police said both escaped unhurt while Anita has been admitted to Columbia Asia hospital with minor injuries.
