Month later, three youths nabbed for assault on cop

BHOPAL: Crime branch Bhopal police on Sunday nabbed three accused, who allegedly attacked a constable with sharp-edged weapons near Extol College on March 4. A police reward of Rs 2,000 was declared on them.
Acting on a tip-off, crime branch team detained accused from Hakeem Hotel near Board Office Square on Sunday evening. Nabbed accused were identified as Rahul Bundela, 24, Bunty alias Ajay Chouhan, 20, and Rajkumar alias Golu, 24.Bundela is a resident of Harshwardhan Nagar, Bunty is from Barkhedi and Rajkumar lives in Aishbagh. During investigation, it was found main accused Rahul had a brush with law and was booked for theft and burglary in the past.
On March 4, 2015, cop Shailendra Singh Chandel, 28, who is posted with 23rd Battalion of SAF, was attacked by the accused after he intervened to pacify a fight near Extol College. However, instead of listening to the victim, the accused allegedly attacked him. Two of them held Chandel’s hand and the third one inflicted multiple stab wounds on him and escaped from the spot.
