The victim has been identified as Parimal Biswas, a resident of Patuli. Parimal operates as an agent in South 24-Parganas.

“It was on the night of April 10 that Parimal’s wife Narayani visited Patuli police station and complained that she was getting ransom calls. The caller was demanding Rs 2 lakh from her against the release of her husband,” said police.
“We immediately lodged an FIR. We came to know that Parimal was asked to come near the 45 route bus stand at Patuli from where he was kidnapped. After tracking the calls we found that those were made from Tangrakhali in Canning,” said an officer.
