Diwali like celebration to welcome Narmada waters in Vagad belt of Kutch

Narmada water for irrigation entered into Kutch district of Gujarat on Sunday. The water was released from Madhutra and reached Jesda on Sunday. On April 18, state Chief Minister Anandiben Patel will welcome Narmada water in Kutch at Fatehgadh in a public function.

Arrival of Narmada water upto Fatehgadh will bring green revolution in this arid district.

Rapar town will dress lighting and decoration for two days to welcome Narmada water in ‘Vagad’ belt of Kutch. Each house will have a lamp outside to celebrate the occasion.

Cleanliness drive will be held n 16th along with scooter rally and mashal rally. On 17th of April 108 vehicles will travel to Fatehgadh to take part in the main event. On 18th, Rapar town will observe holiday for half day and all people will go to Fatehgadh to welcome the waters of Narmada. Not just those living in Fatehgadh, but girls from Fategadh who are married outside the village have also been invited to attend the function. Many Mumbai based Kutchis are also invited to this function.

Two dams; Suvai and Lakdavandh will be filled with Narmada water from Fatehgadh onwards.

This initiative will solve the problem of water in Rapar town on permanent basis, as Rapar will get benefits of Narmada canal oriented water scheme.
