When Vashu Bhagnani decided he needed one more promotional song for his upcoming satire, Welcome To Karachi, Arshad Warsi was happy to dole out dates. And the adult lullaby, Lalla lalla lori, daru ki katori, was shot in Mumbai's Film City recently.

But surprisingly, Arshad spent most of his time in his vanity van while Jackky hit the dance floor. “I wasn't called much so I just chilled out in the van," Arshad shrugs nonchalantly.
But Vashu reportedly wasn't impressed when the song was unveiled for him, despite the fact that choreographer Bosco (of the duo Bosco-Caesar), a close friend of Jackky, had used it to showcase his son and shot it like a romantic song. “Vashuji wanted the song to be about Jackky and me and not Jackky and Lauren Gottlieb, who's not even the heroine of the film. I guess Bosco didn't know the concept and that's why the portrayal was all wrong," points out Arshad.
When Mirror contacted Vashu, he however offered a different version. “Arshad was supposed to shoot through the night but he left early as he wasn't feeling well. When I saw the song I decided that it needed more of him. We have requested him to shoot the portions he couldn't, towards the end of this week, on April 15 or 16," said the producer.
Arshad informed that he has been asked for three extra days to reshoot portions of the song and correct the imbalance. And he's not pleased. “I hate patchwork," he grouses. “But there are times when you can't avoid it. This is the only song which has the actors lip-syncing to it, the others all play in the background. And this is the first time I'm doing a full-fledged film with a co-star whose father is the producer.I had done
F.A.L.T.U with them earlier but that was a special appearance."

Jackky stepped into d Welcome To Karachi at the nth hour to bail out his father whose ha unit was already stationed in London, after Irrfan Khan dropped out.Arshad insists the change in cast hasn't affected the story. “But I wish Irrfan had done it,“ he sighs. “I enjoyed working with him in Krazzy 4 and Sunday and had he done it, this film would have been a different experience. Jackky is a younger costar, he's made the film more youthful."
He also wishes that they got permission to shoot in Pakistan instead of passing London off as Karachi and then, Indore as London. ce “There was a lot of cheating involved which is true for most films," says Arshad. “If our characters become popular then maybe we can think of a sequel and hopefully Part 2 will be far more organised."
And will Welcome To Karachi be welcomed across the border? Arshad insists it will be because it's a “safe, child-friendly" film. “Nothing derogatory has been said about anyone. You're offended by adults but when you have two idiots doing silly stuff you don't mind it, right?," he concludes.
