NOIDA: Police on Sunday said Sector 41 resident Rakhi Gupta had a heated argument with her murderer Sonu, the day she had been murdered. Rakhi had slapped Sonu, her paralysed son’s nurse, after he heckled her. In fit of rage, he attacked her with sharp-edged weapon, killing her. All details were revealed by Sonu during interrogation, after police managed to track and arrest him on Saturday from Madanpur village in Murshidabad, West Bengal.

Rakhi Gupta, 45, wife of a former ISRO scientist, was found murdered inside her residence on April 6.
According to police, Sonu said anger had been welling inside him for some time as Rakhi used to object to him not discharging his duties properly. Additional SP Vijay Kumar Dhull said Sonu had been reluctant in discharging his duties, of late. Rakhi had even raised his salary recently, but found to her dismay there had been no change in Sonu’s attitude. An unhappy Rakhi was on the verge of removing him from the job.
“On the day of the incident, Rakhi found Sonu not taking care of her paralysed son, Jitarth. When she scolded him, Sonu began misbehaving, saying, “Mujhe mera kaam mat sikhao, mujhe apna kaam aata hai (Don’t try to teach me my duties. I know what to do).” An angry Rakhi slapped him, at which Sonu took out a knife and repeatedly stabbed her, and then fled the scene,” said Dhull, adding the only information the family had about the male nurse was his name.
With no photograph, and Sonu’s habit of changing his cell phone numbers and rented accommodation frequently, police had reached a dead end. Police then scanned thousands of cell phone numbers used in the vicinity of Rakhi’s residence on the day of the incident, picked up some numbers they suspected, and finally landed a lead that Sonu was hiding in Murshidabad in West Bengal.
