Consider shifting
bus stand
The traffic congestion is getting severe by the day, especially at the Nellithope junction, Indira Gandhi signal and the Rajiv Gandhi signal.
Many accidents occur as the number of buses plying from the neighbouring states has increased.
There is no scope of expansion of roads within the Boulevard area and they are narrow and intersect closely.
The government authorities must hence consider shifting the New Bus Stand (on Maraimalai Adigal Salai) 3-4 km away from the centre of the town, possibly along the Villianur Road, Cuddalore Road or the East Coast Road. Commuters can easily reach the town area by auto rickshaws or taxis.

Re-starting air service, a welcome move
The efficient work done by the tourism authorities to resume flight services from Bengaluru to Puducherry from April 14 is to be commended.
Alliance Air, the operator is to be appreciated for agreeing to operate flights on this route. It will be useful if the timings are synchronised with flights to places such as Goa, Pune and Mumbai.
Passengers will be happy if the authorities can provide some comfort to bedridden patients.
There is a request to allow such patients to travel in stretchers for treatment, if law permits.
The Tourism Department could also arrange for low-floor air conditioned buses between key activity hubs and tourist locations and the airport, and ply police-monitored taxi and auto services for passengers.
