Ayurveda should be made a way of life, Governor P. Sathasivam has said.

He was inaugurating the 125th year celebrations of Government Ayurveda College here on Thursday.

Holistic

Mr. Sathasivam said that Ayurveda, apart from being a system of medicine, could help one’s physical, mental, and spiritual state of wellness.

Comprehensive system

It was a comprehensive system of medicine that saw man and Nature as one.

It was also a system that was most suited to the wellness of the people who are now leading modern lifestyles.

Mr. Sathasivam said various ailments began troubling man as he began to go against Nature.

One had a lot to learn from the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda practitioners who recognised the inextricable manner in which man was linked to Nature, the Governor said.

Meaningful research

Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan, who presided over the function, said more meaningful research should come from the Ayurveda system of medicine.

Director of Ayurveda Medical Education T. Sivadas; Pro Vice Chancellor of Kerala University for Health Sciences C. Ratnakaran; and Principal of Ayurveda College Usha Kumari spoke on the occasion of the annviersary.
