Palani Express delayed as timber falls on track

The Palani Express going to Chennai from Pollachi was running two hours behind the schedule as an old tree fell on the track near Reddiyarchatram near here on Sunday evening.

The train was stopped at Oddanchatram railway station for more than one and a half hours.

A team of workers cut trees into pieces and removed them from the track. After removal of the tree, the train left Oddanchatram railway station and reached Dindigul railway station around 9.35 p.m. and later proceeded to Chennai.

It was scheduled to reach Dindigul at 7.30 p.m. and leave for Chennai from Dindigul station at 7.50 p.m.

A large numbers of passengers were stranded at Dindigul railway station for about two hours.
