The Panchayat-Level Federation (PLF) of Painkulam in Moonjirai panchayat union in Kanyakumari district received a bulk loan of Rs. 3 crore on Wednesday.
Collector Sajjansingh R. Chavan issued a cheque for the amount to office-bearers of the PLF through the State Women’s Development Corporation (SWDC).
A release from the SWDC said that this was the largest bulk loan issued to a PLF in the State till date. The SWDC had been working for the development of women by assisting self-help groups and PLFs in livelihood activities such as self-employment and capacity building.
The loan would be divided among the SHGs functioning under the PLF. The Primary Agricultural Cooperative Bank in Painkulam issued the loan.
