500 persons with disabilities given aids, assistive devices

Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled in collaboration with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities distributed aids and assistive devices to 500 persons with disabilities from Bengaluru Urban, Rural and Ramanagaram districts on Sunday.

After inaugurating the first phase of its new building at HSR Layout, Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers H.N. Anantha Kumar and Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawarchand Gehlot, and Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy distributed the aids.

Census and politics

Later, while interacting with presspersons, Mr. Ananth Kumar took exception to the State government for not taking the Opposition into confidence before launching the caste census that commenced on Saturday.

He condemned the demand by some politicians for a separate statehood for north Karnataka.
