World Health Day programme: Sri Devaraj Urs Academy of Higher Education and Research and Community Medicine Department of Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College in Kolar conducted the World Health Day programme on April 7 on the college premises.

Deepa, assistant professor, College of Horticultural Sciences, delivered a lecture on organic food. Dr. Anil N.S., associate professor of community medicine department (CMD), spoke on the subject ‘Safe food – from farm to plate’.

Dr. Muninarayana C., Professor & HOD, Community Medicine, was present.

Medical college students organised an exhibition on safe food at R.L. Jalappa Hospital as part of World Heath Day.

Literary appreciation programme: The Kannada Department of Government First Grade College, Mulbagal, organised a Halegannada poetry appreciation programme recently.

Delivering a lecture on the subject, C.A. Ramesh of Kolar’s Government College for Women elaborated on the power of content of old literature. “Halegannada prose and poetry are abundant with value-added literature. One can develop a good personality if those were understood properly”, Mr. Ramesh said.

Literature can help build a healthy society. Hence all sections should take the guidance of litterateurs, he added.

Principal Jameer Ahmad, and Kannada Department head B.R. Devaraj were present.
