Two Muslim youth lynched in Bengal over cow issue

New Delhi: According to a Press Trust of India datedline  Burdwan (West Bengal), 9 April, 2015, two Muslim youth were lynched and another was seriously injured by a mob in Burdwan’s Katwa area. Police claimed the mob suspected them to be cow lifters.

Sajizul Sheikh, Amin Seikh and Sujan Seikh were beaten up by a mob which alleged that they were stealing cows from Beltala area of Katwa town the previous day, police said.

The three were rushed to Katwa Sub-Divisional Hospital where Sajizul and Amin succumbed to their injuries, late on 8 April night.

On hearing the news, Congress MLA of Katwa town Rabindrantha Chattopadhay and Congress Councillor of Katwa Municipality Sudiptomoy Ghosh went to the hospital where Chattopadhay alleged that they were attacked by TMC supporters who also clashed with Congress supporters. However, the local TMC leader Amar Ram denied the Congress MLA's allegations but police said supporters of two political parties clashed at Katwa Sub-Divisional Hospital but did not name them.

A large police force was sent from district headquarters town of Burdwan which brought the situation under control, police added. This news was "killed" by all print and electronic media and could be seen only on the websites of business-standard.com and echoofindia.com
