Anegundi Utsav begins with procession by folk artistes

‘Janapada vahini’, a procession of artistes of various folk forms, was taken as part of the Anegundi Utsav in Anegundi on Saturday.

Over 30 troupes of folk artistes, dressed in their traditional attire, drawn from various parts of the district and also from other parts of the State, participated in the procession, which was flagged off by Iqbal Ansari, Gangavati MLA, along with other prominent personalities.

Mr. Ansari also inaugurated the media centre, set up adjacent to the main stage named after Sri Krishnadevaraya. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ansari said that the utsav would be held regularly every year.

Efforts would be made to construct a permanent stage, with green rooms, media centre to organise the cultural festival on a grand scale, he said.

Amaresh Kulagi, zilla panchayat president, Ventakesh, Town Municipal Council Gangavati, Lalita Rani Srirangadevarayalu, R.R. Jannu, Deputy Commissioner, Krishna Udupudi, zilla panchayat Chief Executive Officer, P. Raja, Superintendent of Police, were among other prominent persons and officials present.
