Ranchi: Two Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) general secretaries — central general secretary Sunil Sahu and Youth JVM-P chief Santosh Kumar — have accused BJP of inducting them as members even though they did not give a missed call to the number used for the saffron party’s membership drive.
Kumar said: “I never gave a call to the number publicized by BJP. I was driving when I got a call and it turned out to be a recorded voice message from chief minister Raghubar Das asking me to become a BJP member.
I disconnected the phone because I did not want to become member of the communal party. I was surprised when I received an SMS saying that I had been inducted into BJP and my membership number is 1082374006.” The incident took place on March 24.
Kumar said he is consulting senior lawyers to lodge a case against BJP. “It is illegal to make someone the member of your party without his consent. I am exploring legal recourse,” he said.
Sahu said the BJP has forcefully made over 10 JVM-P leaders its members. “BJP believes in fooling the public. The membership drive is part of its strategy to falsely project an inflated member base,” Yadav said. JVM(P)’s joint media secretary Tahuid Alam was also made a member when he got an SMS saying “Welcome to BJP. Your primary membership number is 1097067090’ following a VoIP call.
Addressing a press conference on Friday evening, JVM-P principal general secretary Pradeep Yadav said: “BJP has forcibly made our central general secretary Sunil Sahu and party’s largest frontal organization (Youth JVM-P) chief Santosh Kumar their primary members. They are dead against BJP’s policies and have been attacking the party on various television channel debates. This fraud is the dark truth of BJP’s rise to become world’s largest political party.”
BJP spokesperson Pradeep Sinha said the JVM-P leaders should message on the number given in the SMS (welcoming to BJP) that they do not want to become party members. “After they express their unwillingness in the SMS, their membership would be cancelled.”
