NASHIK: The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) is planning to set up an additional industrial estate on 2,500 hectares in Malegaon tehsil of the district.
The land is owned by the state government. The move is expected to boost industrial growth in the district, which has been hampered due to scarcity of the land.
Speaking to TOI, an MIDC official said on the condition of anonymity, “The 2,500-hectare land in Malegaon tehsil is owned by the Maharashtra State Agricultural Development Corporation.
The land is to be transferred from the revenue department to the district collectorate after which the MIDC will get it. However, the process will take some time. These are primary stages, but we are taking efforts for setting up an additional industrial estate there.”
“We are already in the process of setting up an additional industrial estate in Talegaon and Akrale villages in Dindori tehsil. We have acquired land for the purpose and have also invited tenders for the creation of infrastructure such as roads, water supply, streetlights and other facilities. The allotment of plots to the industries wanting to set up their base is expected to begin in the next few months. It will not only bring fresh industrial investment, but also create employments,” he added.
The MIDC has identified around 5,000 hectares at various locations across the district for setting up industrial estates.
These pieces of land are in different stages of acquisition. The MIDC has earmarked 128 hectares for the development of new industrial area at Gonde village near Igatpuri, while 127 hectares have been earmarked at Sinnar.
Another MIDC official said, “We are in the process of acquiring 113 hectares at Sayane in Malegaon tehsil; 60 hectares have been acquired so far, while the remaining will be acquired shortly. Moreover, we will soon hold talks with the farmers to speed up the process to acquire 128 acres at Gonde and 127 hectares at Sinnar. In Yeola, we have already acquired 109 hectares and the process of developing infrastructure there is underway.”
The Satpur and Ambad industrial estates of the MIDC are fully occupied and the existing industries have no space for expansion. Moreover, the new industries too cannot set up their base there due to lack of space.
