NAGPUR
: Despite all the claims that
homeopathy is not an effective form of treatment, 80-85% citizens taking any type of treatment are still in
touch with this branch of medicine, say officials from
Orange City Homeopaths Association (OCHA).
Addressing a function organized to mark World Homeopathy Day on Friday, OCHA president
Manish Patil said, “Our organization has put forth a proposal to union
transport and shipping minister Nitin Gadkari for creating separate indoor patient department (IPD) and outdoor patient department (OPD) devoted to homeopathy at AIIMS.
We hope to get it done within the next four months.”
Patil further said, “Our motto this year is to make homeopathy the first choice of treatment, no matter how much efforts are needed to make this branch more credible,” he added.
Homeopath Dr
Kavita Chandak and Dr Krishna
Kamade,
professor from department of Radio Therapy, Government medical College (GMC) were the chief guests.
“If figures are to be believed then our city has the second highest number of
breast cancer patients,” said Kamade. He also said that homeopaths these days have to deal with almost every kind of cases. “Being an oncologist, my suggestion to such homeopaths is to make early diagnosis of such diseases and then refer the patient to the best medical practitioner,” he said.
Talking to TOI, Chandak said that because of less awareness people think that homeopathy is a long-term treatment. “The fact is that patients come to us at the eleventh hour when they lose hope from allopathy, but in that process they also happen to develop a mixed symptom with allopathy which makes treatment even more difficult with homeopathy,” she said.
