MARGAO: Police on Friday constituted a five-member team to trace the whereabouts of former RDA minister and current Benaulim MLA Francisco ‘Mickky’ Pacheco, against whom an arrest warrant has been issued in connection with a 2006 assault case.
Confirming the development, South Goa SP Shekhar Prabhudessai told TOI that the police team would soon leave for Delhi as police have learnt that Pacheco is putting up in the national capital.

Sources said the police have tracked Pacheco’s location to Delhi with the help of mobile tower signals. Sources further said that Pacheco had left for Delhi on April 6 in connection with the review petition filed by him in the Supreme Court and was yet to return to Goa.
The development follows the Colva police receiving on Friday evening the court’s warrant of arrest issued against Pacheco on Thursday.
The court of the judicial magistrate first class (JMFC), Margao, had directed the Colva police to execute the arrest warrant against Pacheco and produce him before the court within seven days.
JMFC Pooja Kavlekar, in her order, had directed the police to arrest Pacheco since the special leave petition (SLP) filed by him had been dismissed by the Supreme Court on March 30, and thus he had to obey the high court order directing him to undergo six months imprisonment and pay the fine of Rs 1,500.
Social activist Aires Rodrigues had filed the application before the JMFC seeking that the court issue an arrest warrant against Pacheco.
Pacheco’s conviction pertains to a 2006 case registered against him for assaulting electricity department junior engineer Kapil Natekar for not attending to a power failure call in Pacheco’s constituency.
