'Belly dancing is a good exercise'

Rachita Ram has a handful of good projects to her credit but she is still remembered for her role in ‘Bulbul’. The film made a lot of difference to her career.

Rachita, who had everything in her to be an actor, took a lot of time to choose the right project to make her debut. Even today, she continues to be choosy because she is clearly in no hurry to climb the ladder of fame. “I am in no rush. I would rather do one or two projects and be remembered for them than work on ten projects and be remembered for none,” she says.

After her latest appearance in ‘Ambareesha’, Rachita hasn’t really signed too many projects. She is currently working on ‘Ranna’ in which she plays the younger sister of actress Haripriya. “I signed ‘Ranna’ because of two reasons — firstly, the role which is a loud but lovable character and secondly, the fact that I was acting with Sudeep. He is not only a wonderful actor but his strong technical knowledge makes a huge difference,” reasons Rachita.

There are a couple of other things that Rachita enjoyed about working on the film. “There’s a song where I had to wear a sari and dance. I find it difficult to drape a sari in the first place. So when I had to dance wearing one, I found that quite tiring. Finally when I was done, it felt good,” she reasons.

Whenever she is not shooting, Rachita likes to hang out with her friends or watch movies at home.

“There was a time when I wouldn’t step out at all but now, I’ve started going out and exploring the City,” says Rachita. And she has just signed up for belly dancing classes. “I love dancing and I think it’s a great way to stay in shape. Belly dancing is a good exercise and keeps you fit,” she states.     Though Rachita has been getting a lot of offers from various industries, she is keen on working in Sandalwood at the moment.
