While on screen Bollywood love stories are magical and make us fall in love with love, real life love stories of our stars are not far. And to discover that some of the greatest and most popular real-life Bollywood couples are so alike despite being decades apart, adds a fairytale-like touch of its own. We list down some of the new-age couples whose love lives reflect the stories of their counterparts from decades ago, only proving that love is indeed eternal.

Dilip Kumar- Saira Banu and Saif Ali Khan- Kareena Kapoor Khan

The legendary actor and cricket player Dilip Kumar shares 46 glorious years of marriage with Saira Banu. She fell in love with the actor at the age of 12, with an age gap of 22 years between them. On the other hand, Saif Ali Khan, the chhote Nawab of Pataudi, also managed to appeal to the gorgeous Kareena who is 10 years younger to him. The couple tied the knot in October 2014. Incidentally, both Dilip Kumar and Saif were married once before they found the real love of their lives. While Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu have built the relationship of a lifetime with each other, Saif and Kareena too have so far proved to be consistent lovers.

Amitabh Bachchan- Jaya Bachchan and Ajay Devgn- Kajol

Jaya Bahaduri fell in love with Amitabh Bachchan on the sets of Guddi and in no time, he also fell for the gorgeous actress. And it was exactly this way that Ajay Devgn was attracted by the natural charm of Kajol on the sets of Hulchul. Both the Bengali actresses took a minute backseat in their careers after their marriages. While Jaya Bachchan has come back with her partial roles in various Bollywood movies, Kajol too, has continued to give strong performances in films like Fanaa and My Name Is Khan and is currently working on Dilwale opposite Shah Rukh Khan. While Big B and Jaya have completed 42 years of their beautiful marriage and have two successful children, Ajay Devgn and Kajol are in their 15th year and also have two young children.

Rishi Kapoor- Neetu Singh and Akshay Kumar- Twinkle Khanna

Rishi Kapoor, the chocolate boy of 70s, fell in love with Neetu Singh, who was taking her baby steps into Bollywood at the age of 14. Akshay Kumar, a playboy in his time, lost his heart to Twinkle Khanna, who met him during the film shoot.  But just like any other Kapoor family wife, Neetu Kapoor too stopped acting in films, as did Twinkle Khanna after her marriage. But the two wives have continued to be public figures, with Neetu Kapoor continuing to act in films like Do Dooni Chaar and Twinkle Khanna successfully writing witty columns, among other endeavours. Both the couples fell for each other at first sight and their love stories are eternal, making them top notch couples even today.

Shah Rukh Khan- Gauri Khan and Imran Khan- Avantika


The two actors chose their partners before they took the plunge to make their records of success in Bollywood. Shah Rukh and Imran both went through the phase of being a majnoo to kick-start their love lives.  Both the actors had known their respective spouses a decade before they tied the knot and the ladies share a common ground on staying away from acting in the movies even today. While Shah Rukh and Gauri completed 23 years of love, Imran and Avantika have been married for three years.

After many controversies about Aamir and Aditya’s respective divorces from their first wives, they finally found their love after years of courtship. Director Kiran Rao fell in love with the actor Aamir Khan while shooting Lagaan, while director-producer Aditya had an affair with Rani Mukerji during the movie, Mujhse Dosti Karoge! Aamir and Kiran have been married for 11 years now while Aditya and Rani have only recently been hitched.
