Akshay K., a standard 4 student from Sangabettu Government Primary School, wanted authorities to arrange for textbook for his teacher to avoid his book being taken for teaching during classes.
Samarth M. from Mavinakatte Government Higher Primary school said that the playground of his school was too small to practice for district and state level sports competitions.
These were a few among the questions posed by students from as many as 160 Gram Panchayats participating in the interaction programme with officials here on Friday.
Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim, Dakshina Kannada Chief Executive Officer Srividya and other officials took part in the programme.
Akshay said while he and his classmates get textbooks, his teachers are not getting the same. “Teachers take the copy we possess and teach us. While providing textbooks, do provide one to our teachers”.
Geeta, an official from the district unit of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, said they have made arrangements to meet requirement of textbooks for children this year. “We will arrange for textbooks for your teachers also,” the official said with a smile.
To the question of the young Samarth, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sadashiva Prabhu said the revenue land proposed for the school was before the court of Deputy Commissioner. He assured of disposal of the case at the earliest.
Some students complained of absence of computer teachers, while some complained of school computers not being repaired for several weeks. Students sought to know as to when the compound wall will be built around the school area. There were also complaints of absence of toilets and poor quality of construction of toilets in some schools.
