Why should we live like second class citizens? : Kashmiri Pandits

For the return of Kashmir Pandits back to the Valley, Pandits are demanding the separate homeland in Kashmir Valley

" It is Very sad that Mufti Sayeed bowed to the pressure of Pakistani backed separatist. Separatists were welcoming us but issuing such checklists of Do's. Why should we live like second class citizens ," said Bansi Lal.

"We were forced to sell our properties in the valley, now it is the duty of the government to get us suitable accommodation for us in the Valley, so that we can go and live in a free atmosphere," he added.

Amit Wanchoo, who had not left the valley told Mirror that, " 80% of Kashmiri pandits have sold their property or their property is encroached. None of these so called leaders have ever taken a step to stop sale of migrant property, infact majority of them own migrant property. Now if all of them want Kashmiri pandits to return to their old neighborhood then separatists and mainstream politicians will have to facilitate sale of same houses at same cost on which they were sold with 10 percent home loan interest every year. Let them do that first and then tell others to return to their old neighborhoods. "

" Kashmiri people are welcoming and they have a clear heart but our politicians are not clear. In 1990 majority of Kashmiri Muslims migrated from their old neighborhoods to new places for their safety. Now even if any Kashmiri pandit comes back to that area if his house is intact he is not having same neighbors. Politicians are dividing two communities by their statements. They have never cared for bridging gaps between two communities and whenever they get a chance to create wedge between Kashmiri pundits and Muslims they are always ready for it," he said

" I live in Kashmir and my ancestral home is at Malyar, Habba Kadal with file no 899/RD in DC office Srinagar. This house has been encroached by a person who constructed house on this land inspite of FIR in police station Kralkhud, than he sold to another person who in turn sold to another one. I am here and following it and fighting for this case for last four years. But how can a person who is a migrant follow it like this," said Wanchoo.

" If in Jammu we can have Bhatindi, let us have on same pattern in Kashmir. Let you first give them a chance to come. They would in the first instance like to live with those whom they know for last 25 years and then slowly they can disseminate. Kashmiri pundits have equal right to live where ever they feel fine to live. Living is a choice and you have right to live anywhere in this state as any other Kashmiri has," he said

President Kashmiri Pandit Sangharsh Samiti said that the state and central government must make a select committee of Kashmiri Pandits living in the valley and task them with the work of resettlement of migrant Pandits.
