Shruti bags Balaji Shaktivel's next film
After making her Kollywood debut as a supporting character in Nerungi Vaa Muthamidathe (NVM), Sruthi Hariharan has signed her next project in Tamil, Ra Ra Rajasekar. The film, being helmed by Balaji Shaktivel, will see her playing one of the leads. The team had contacted me a couple of months ago. Since I was busy with projects in Kannada, I couldn't commit.
But I again got a call when I was shooting in Thai land. The cinematographer of my Kannada film, Lucia, Siddhartha Nuni, is filming this one, too. I said I'd come back and audition for the role, which I did, and we started shooting for the film in two days, says Sruthi.
The film will see Mathivanan Murugeshan along with Subhiksha as one of the female leads.Shruthi says, Unlike NVM, I play one of the leads in this. It is a typical Balaji film... scripted and shot in a realistic manner. My character is bold and there is a time lapse that tracks her role. Talking about working with Balaji, she says, I was initially scared. I am a prepared actor and have my lines ready for each shot. But here, I didn't get the scenes in advance. I went with an empty mind as he wanted spontaneity . I am glad that he broke that in me as an actor. It is beautiful, the way he treats drama in his films.
Sruthi also didn't mind sharing screen space with another actress. All of us have equal weightage and screen time. Also, Subhiksha is from Bangalore. So, we had fun shooting for the film, she signs off.
