CM: Education can reduce gender imbalance
MADHUBANI: Expressing serious concern over increasing gender imbalance even in Bihar, CM Nitish Kumar prescribed spread of education as the only medicine to remedy the malady. Only 917 females per 1,000 males in the state should sound alarm bells for all those interested in the development of the state, he said.
The chief minister was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the twin functions of Diamond Jubilee Celebration of Masomat Shashimani Chaudhary +2 High School and two-day Mithila Bibhuti Parva Samaroh at the Loha High School ground in Kaluahi block in Madhubani district on Thursday.

He also unveiled the busts of late Masomat Shashimani Chaudhay, founder of the school way back in 1939, and former headmaster of the school, late Ram Krishna Jha, who won the prestigious President’s Medal in 1968 for his services in the field of education, on the occasion.
Nitish reiterated his resolve to establish +2 high schools in every panchayat of the state for the simple reason that spread of education alone can successfully combat many of the social evils like child marriage, female foeticide, malnutrition etc.
He said the idea behind the formation of Manav Vikas Mission by his government on the pattern of Krishi Vikas Cabinet was to address these problems.
The poor among the upper caste students would also be getting scholarships like the students belonging to scheduled and backward castes after the report by the Upper Caste Commission is submitted.
Responding to a memorandum submitted to him for the development of the school, the chief minister told culture minister Ram Lakhan Ram ‘Raman’, present on the occasion, to discuss the issue with department officials regarding the feasibility of the demands and also assured, amid loud cheers, to do all that can be done for the development of the school.
Prominent among those present included MLCs Uday Kant Chaudhary, Vinod Singh, and former MLA Hari Bhusan Thakur Bachaul.
