Building toilets a priority: S Goa MP

Ponda: Claiming that better toilet facilities is the need of the hour, South Goa member of Parliament Narendra Sawaikar said that he has placed toilet facilities at the top of his priorities in his term and stressed that he will build toilets in every school in his constituency.
Speaking to mediapersons at Ponda on Thursday, Sawaikar said he is trying to get some Union government schemes to build toilets in every school in South Goa.
He said most of the schools in Goa have no toilets or have dilapidated toilets and he would ensure that toilets are available in all schools in South Goa district.
Stating that he has adopted Cola village in Canacona under Pradhanmantri adarsh gram yojana, Sawaikar said he wishes to get some vegetables grown in Canacona, registered in the national register of vegetables.
Canacona chillies, alsande, seven axis bhende are special in Goa and these could be registered in the national register of vegetables, he said.
Besides these, he is trying to get central government schemes to ST communities and he has spoke to ICAR to allot some schemes for the community
