State president of Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sanga (KPRS), Maruthi Manpade said that farmers will hold ‘Vidhana Soudha Chalo’ on April 28 opposing the Land acquisition ordinance.

The rally will also be held for demanding suitable amendments to Land Revenue Act of the state to safeguard the interests of Bagair Hukum farmers who are cultivating Government land and demanding the Union government to amend the Forest Rights Act to give ownership of the forest land which the farmers are cultivating.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday afternoon, Mr. Manpade said that they will urge the government to provide housing for the shelterless and potable drinking water for all.

He said that more than one lakh farmers will participate in the ‘Vidhana Soudha Chalo’ programme opposing the anti-farmer policies of the Union and State governments.

The present land acquisition ordinance will snatch the rights of the farmers of deciding the price of their land and give it to the Deputy Commissioner. He alleged that Prime Minister, Narendra Modi is trying to safeguard the interests of the MNC’s and not of the farmers by bringing the land acquisition ordinance.
