The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) said that an Iranian plane carrying 260 Umrah pilgrims was blocked from entering the Kingdom's airspace yesterday afternoon, reports the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

According to GACA, the plane allegedly failed to follow procedures and international regulations, as the operator did not obtain permission to enter Saudi airspace prior to the flight.

Tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran have been exacerbated by the conflict in Yemen. Iran is supporting the Houthi rebels, while Saudi Arabia is conducting airstrikes against them to restore President Hadi to power.
