Get set for Vizag Fest

Vizag Fest 2015 being organised parallel to the CPI (M)’s 21st party congress at Andhra University College of Engineering’s ground here from April 10 to 19 will reflect the spirit of Visakhapatnam and highlight the cultural and literary heights of Uttarandhra.

The fest is expected to leave pleasant and satisfying memories to the visitors considering the programmes lined up like folk festival; book exhibition with 200 stalls which will also have seminars on subjects like society and literature, social inequalities and literature, media-TV-cinema, Telugu language, contemporary literature and challenges and how the present literature should be, and a seminar on southern and eastern languages.

Noted writers, poets and journalists like Goreti Venkanna, Rachapalem Chandrasekhara Reddy, Ampasayya Naveen, Central Sahitya Academy award winner Punyaprava Mohanti, Katyayani Vidmahe, Telakalapalli Ravi, Chalasani Prasad, Addepalli Ramamohana Rao, Yendluri Sudhakar, Ganteda Gourinaidu, Uppala Appalaraju, Chikati Sudhakar, Kolakaluri Inoch, Olga, K. Ramachandramurthy, K. Venugopal, Akkineni Kutumba Rao, Chaganti Tulasi, Velamala Simmanna, U.V. Narasimha Murthy, Datla Devadanam Raju, Thumati Sanjeeva Rao, A. Vidya Sagar, Sakhamuri Ramgopal, Chandu Subba Rao, K. Anandachari, S. Venkata Rao, Duppala Ravikumar, Ramathreetha, Jagaddatri, Attada Appala Naidu, Jandhyala Raghubabu and others will participate in seminars on different subjects.

Chairman of AP Legislative Council A. Chakrapani will inaugurate the first day’s programme. Chukka Ramayya, Deputy Speaker of AP Assembly Mandali Buddha Prasad, MLCs Geyanand, Boddu Nageswara Rao and V. Balasubrahmanyam, Vice-Chancellor of DSNLU A. Bhagavathi Kumar and others will be guests during the seminars.

Folk arts festival from April 10 to 13, dance and Hasya Vallari on April 16 and 17 and art forms of people’s struggles on April 18 will be held.

Venue for children

There is a separate venue for schoolchildren, named as Sir CV Raman Pranganam, which will have science exhibition, magic shows, etc. apart from a sort of competition for schoolchildren in doing experiments. This will be from April 10 to 19.

Films and short films with contemporary themes will be screened at another enclosure from April 10 to 19. Two or three shorts films, selected from a competition held earlier, will be screened first followed by one or two feature films.

A photo exhibition and international cartoon contest are also being held.

At Kala Bharati, a stage festival will be conducted from April 14 to 16. Cultural programmes will be held both at the AUCE ground and at the old RTC premises, old Gajuwaka.
