Sevalal Swami arrested

April 09, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - DAVANGERE:

Sardar Sevalal Swami of Banjara Gurupeeta of Chitradurga was arrested here on Wednesday on the charge of sexually harassing a woman.

The Davangere police produced him before a court in the afternoon amid tight security. He was remanded in judicial custody for a day.

In 2013, a resident of Bharath Colony in Davangere had filed a complaint at the Davangere women’s police station alleging that the swami had sexually harassed her. A charge-sheet was filed against him. Though the swami secured an anticipatory bail from the court, he failed to appear before the court even after receiving three summons.

On April 7, the court ordered his arrest within 24 hours for his failure to appear before it.

Meanwhile, the swami told presspersons that it was a conspiracy by some vested interests to tarnish his image and the truth would come out after a thorough inquiry.
