Defamation case against Pandian

Police have registered a case against Tamizh Desa Marxist Katchi leader Mee. Tha. Pandian for making a speech, defaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam while addressing an agitation at Tiruvadanai on February 23.

Pandian (53) from Sellur in Madurai was addressing the demonstration organised by the CPI (ML) to protest against methane extraction project and demanding the closure of TASMAC shops selling liquor when he made the controversial speech, the police said. Tiruvadanai police registered a case against Pandian under Sections 153 A (i) (a) and 295 A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the police added.
