Non-priority Pushkaram works to be suspended

April 09, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - RAJAHMUNDRY:

Rajahmundry City MLA Dr. Akula Satyanarayana has asked municipal officials and contractors to complete the Pushkaram works on priority basis, failing which action would be initiated against them.

He said all non-priority works would be stopped with immediate effect, and works that could be done after Pushkarams would be taken up in the second phase.

Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, Dr. Akula said non-priority works and lack of quality in some ongoing works were taken to the notice of Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana.

The MLA added that a survey had found several irregularities in Pushkaram works, which were sanctioned without his knowledge.

Dr. Akula clarified that henceforth he would ensure that sign boards were put up in each ward, wherever works are taken up, displaying the details. “All citizens will be involved, and any one can question the contractor or the officials concerned or Corporator and even me on the work being done in their wards going by the details,” he added.

BJP City president Kshatriya Balasubrahmanyam and Adabala Ramakrishna were present.
