They say that the cupid strikes you when you least expect it and that seems to be the case for Christopher Dodd, 24, from Middlesbrough who is soon going to marry Miss Fay Purdham, 27, his childhood buddy.

The 'twist' in the story is that Miss Purdham was once a boy named Kevin, Chris's best buddy from his childhood days.

Christopher and his wife-to-be grew up together as young boys before falling out of touch in their teenage years. They were the best of friends in their childhood and were literally inseperable as they played football and video games.

Kevin soon realised that he was different from other boys his age. He was 12, when he told his parents that he was gay. Around the age 16 when he started taking hormonal supplements to aid in his transition as a complete woman, Christopher's family had already moved away. She completed her transformation at the age of 23. The 27 year feels that though her mother and sister have accepted her as a woman, her father found it very difficult.

The friends didn't meet for many years until they bumped into each other at Chris's 21st birthday party. Chris was instantly smitten by Fay. He had already heard through family and friends about her transformation. The first thing Chris told fay was "God, you look different!".

The couple instantly hit it off. They started dating soon and now are planning to get married.
