Pilot photovoltaic power plant officially launched in Namangan region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An official opening ceremony of the pilot photovoltaic power plant with the capacity of 130 kilowatt has been held in Pap district of Namangan region on 7 April 2015.
Representatives of ministries and department of Uzbekistan, Embassy of South Korea in Uzbekistan, as well as Korean companies participated in the event.
The station was constructed within implementation of the memorandum of understanding between Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea and Ministry of Economy of Uzbekistan.
The document was signed within a state visit of the South Korean President to Uzbekistan on 17 June 2014.
Uzbekenergo and Korea Association of Photoelectric Industry participated in the construction of the solar power station in Namangan region. Equipment of Hanhwa, JSPV, S-Energy and TopSum were used in construction of the testing solar power station. The station produces 500-600 KWH of electricity a year.
Governor of Pap district Bakhodir Rakhmanov said that South Korea provided a US$700,000-grant to construction of the station. He noted that Uzbekenergo financed other expenses related with construction of the station.
He said that over 490 solar panels of four models were installed at the station, which was constructed in three months. The project will improve electricity supply of Gulistan and Kandigon villages.
The station will allow to receive data to implement wide-scale projects on construction of solar power stations in Uzbekistan, as well as test Korean equipment and learn Korean experience in this area.
