Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan is understood to have told a delegation of Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee leaders that he is working sincerely and honestly without giving any scope for criticism.

Mr. Narasimhan, it is learnt, made this observation when a high-level delegation of APCC leaders led by party president N. Raghuveera Reddy, former PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana, former Union Minister M.M. Pallam Raju and actor Chiranjeevi and others called on him with issues concerning Andhra Pradesh.

Sources said Mr. Botcha Satyanarayana reportedly referred to critical reports appearing in a section of the media about the Governor. Mr. Narasimhan, sources said, then pointed out that he was functioning judiciously for welfare of people. “People’s welfare is paramount to me and that’s is why I made the two Chief Minister’s - K. Chandrasekhar Rao and N. Chandrababu Naidu - talk to each other to resolve contentious issues,” he was quoted as telling the Congress delegation.

The Governor, it is said remarked that he was not sitting ideal in Raj Bhavan. “I am always doing everything for the sake of people. I am 10 times ahead of others in terms of thinking about the welfare of the public,” he was quoted by the Congress leaders. Mr. Narasimhan, it is learnt, said that in future people would know about his functioning. It may be mentioned here that Governor’s office had issued a press communiqué in wake of certain reports in the media. It has said that Raj Bhavan is a high constitutional office which functions in an objective and impartial manner as per the constitutional mandate. It would not like to be drawn into needless controversies and react to reports from time to time, it said.
