Proposal sought for construction of ramp at Dharwad Railway Station

April 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:40 am IST - DHARWAD:

Prahlad Joshi, MP, has said that South Western Railway officials have been asked to submit a proposal to build a ramp to connect the first and second platforms at the railway station here.

Speaking to presspersons after visiting the station along with Arvind Bellad, MLA, and SWR general manager Pradip Kumar Saxena here on Tuesday, he said there were certain lapses in providing facilities to passengers, which needed to be corrected immediately.

“Passengers are using the skywalk or are crossing the tracks to reach the second and third platforms, which is dangerous and wheelchair-bound people are finding it difficult. SWR officials have been told to get an escalator or ramp to connect the second and third platform with the first platform. They have also been told to provide shelter and other facilities at platform no. 4.”

The MP promised to get an approach road constructed for the residents of Attikolla area, set up two more reservation counters, and arrange for battery-run trolleys if any organisation came forward to maintain them.
