The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Legislature Party Deputy Leader A. Anbalagan on Thursday said the government should commence tender process afresh in awarding contract to execute interlinking of two canals in Yanam.
Addressing reporters here, Mr. Anbalagan said the Public Works Department had invited bids to execute interlinking of French canal and Adivupolam in Yanam at the estimated cost of 20.61 crore.
“Due to political pressure, the bid will be finalised in favour of a person who quoted a higher cost. There are attempts to award contract to a Hyderabad based company in violation of the rules,” Mr. Anbalagan alleged.
He said his party would complain to the Chief Secretary in this regard. If he fails to cancel the tender process, the party would also fight against the awarding of the contract legally.
Charging that the ruling All India NR Congress Government is making a mockery of Legislative Assembly, Mr. Anbalagan said the government had not tabled recent reports of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) before the Assembly for last two years.
