JAMMU, Apr 7: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq Khan and Minister for PHE, Chowdhary Sukhnandan Kumar today laid foundation stone of Model Village Sangrampur.
Minister of States for Transport, Abdul Gani Kohli was also present on the occasion. Among others Director Rural Development, Jammu Gulam Nabi Balwan, Assistant Commissioner Development, Jammu Suram C. Sharma, SDM Marh Sunaina Sharma and others officers of Rural Development Department, Sarpanchs and Panchs and general public were present on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion,  Abdul Haq retreated the resolve of the present Coalition Govt. to develop all the three regions of the State, adding that rural areas will witness new era  of development in the days to come.
He enjoined upon the officials to work with synergy and coordination, so that the rural /urban gap can be bridged. He said that the present dispensation will prove instrumental in developing all the regions of the State on the modern lines.
He said the Coalition Government is not only to provide basic amenities in rural areas but to check migration of population and improve quality of life to demonstrate the use of latest technology and ensure integrated development of these areas.
To develop Sangrampur as “Model Village” the Rural Development Department has proposed various development activities under Convergence of CD&Pyt, 13th FC, MGNREGA, MLA Constituency Development Fund and NBA.
Sukhnandan Chowdhary said that the Coalition Government is keen to provide basic amenities to the people especially in far-flung and rural areas. After appraisal of the demands by the people, he assured to fulfil their demands as early as possible.
Sukhnandan Chowdhary also announced transport facilities in the evening for the movement of the people in the areas.
Abdul Gani Kohli said that the priority of the Government under Model Village is to improve overall sanitation of the village including lanes and drains, community facility centre and playground and establishments of rural informatic centres and Anganwadi  centres also. He appealed the people to cooperate with the Coalition Government for overall development of the area.
