DHANBAD: Intuc leader Faheem Khan’s son Iqbal Khan (27) and nephews Prince Khan and Gopi Khan, who were held in Dhanbad jail for around two years, will likely be shifted to separate prisons.
The decision of the jail officials came after they received information regarding the alleged involvement of the Khan family in various cases of extortion in addition to threatening contractors for ransom and others from within the jail premises.

SP Rakesh Bansal, had in the first week of March, informed Dhanbad DC and IG (prison) about these allegations. DC Kripa Nand Jha, forwarded SP’s application to the authorities concerned for further action.
Jha confirmed the recent development and said that IG (prison) had already issued his order and directed the jail superintendent to shift the trio to separate jails. “If everything goes well, all three would be shifted from Dhanbad in a day or two,” said Jha.
“The district police have lodged about half a dozen FIRs against Iqbal, Gopi and Prince over the past couple of months. They were committing these crimes through telephone and other sources from within the jail premises. These crimes occurred in Hirapur, Bankmore areas, Bhuli, railway colony and other places”, Bansal said.
“Apart from few other incidents , their influence within the jail premises could be gauged just by the recent incident in which Dhanbad SDM, along with other government officials, had gone to the jail to conduct a raid. They had to wait for about 35-40 minutes to enter the jail premises,” said Bansal.
The 55-year-old Faheem Khan was considered the mastermind of the various gangs of Wasseypur, a locality in Dhanbad.
He has 38 cases of murder, torture, extortion and other criminal activities lodged against him across the coal belt. Khan was sentenced to life imprisonment around 2-3 years ago and is now currently in Ranchi central jail.
