The global organisation that sets standards for the Web - World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and edX - a non-profit online learning platform has joined hands to launch HTML5 MOOC.

Led by web inventor Tim Berners-Lee and CEO Jeff Jaffe, W3C unites an international community of member organisations.

W3C’s first course on edX, HTML5 Part 1 is now open for enrolment. The standard language of the Web, HTML5 was crafted by W3C and the Web community. This course will offer students an opportunity to learn from the experts who helped create HTML5, while practising its latest features and learning to create rich Web sites and applications.

W3C is jointly run by MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory in the US, the European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics headquartered in France, Keio University in Japan, and Beijing University in China, and has additional offices worldwide.
