Isabella Dunn makes a winner of new Sharon girls’ lacrosse coach

Sharon senior attacker Isabella Dunn drove to the net and buried a low shot with just under a minute to play in the second overtime to secure a 9-8 victory over Attleboro in the girls’ lacrosse season opener Monday.

The win marked the first at the varsity level for coach Colleen Manning, who is in her first year at Sharon after coaching the Foxboro junior varsity team.

Dunn and freshman Sabrina Robbins each had two goals.

After Sharon jumped out to a 3-0 lead, Manning said the game “was back and forth the whole time.”

Freshman Kathryn Derry started in net for the Eagles, holding off Attleboro’s attack with defensive help from senior captain Paulina Kosmadakis and her sister, junior Natalie Kosmadakis.

“She did really well,” Manning said of Derry. “It was her first time in net. She played a little in eighth grade, but she stepped up to the plate.”

Sharon will take on Manning’s old squad, Foxboro, on Wednesday. Manning said she is a little nervous, but also excited about the matchup.

“I have high expectations for the girls and I think they know that,” Manning said. “I think the girls worked really hard and I’m excited for a great year.”
