Two farmers committed suicide at Gajwel constituency on Monday.
According to sources, Ippa Rajaiah (58), a resident of Kodakanda village was having three acres of land. He dug three borewells on his land, but only one was successful that too partially.
He could not cultivate paddy and cotton as water yield was not to the required levels. Unable to come out of the debt trap, he committed suicide by hanging himself at his farm.
In another incident, Raji Reddy (55) attempted suicide by consuming pesticide at Nagireddypally village in the same constituency two days ago. He was shifted to hospital for treatment. He died while undergoing treatment on Monday.
